European Book Club Ottawa

Book Club in Ottawa by EUNIC in Canada

Every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6pm at the Ottawa Public Library (Sunnyside Branch), a contemporary novel from a European country is presented and discussed by the group.
The book club is entering the 3rd year since its establishment in February 2012 and has seen numerous high-quality discussions among the participants on European authors and their works previously little known among the Canadian public.

On 19 February 2014, Austria will present The Bone Man (Der Knochenman) by Wolf Haas (2012). The Bone Man manages to make fun of institutions from high cuisine to soccer while nonetheless building relentless suspense based in all-too-real social issues. Smart, tense, and funny, the book makes clear why Carl Hiaasen called Wolf Haas “the real deal.”
On 19 March 2014, Romania will present Accident by Mihail Sebastian (2011)
The April edition of the European Book Club in Ottawa will present a book from France (title to be determined).

Date: every 3rd Wednesday of the month

Location: Ottawa Public Library, Sunnyside Branch, 1049 Bank Street, Ottawa
